For the second straight year a Horace Mann student has been named the 2023 Junior Fire Chief. Congratulations, Jayden Fleming! The junior chief earns the title by winning the annual fifth-grade essay contest on Fire Prevention Week's theme, which this year is “Cooking safety starts with YOU. Pay attention to fire prevention." As is tradition, Jayden arrived at school on Tuesday, Oct. 10 in the front seat of a Lakewood Fire Dept. truck with the the school's students and staff there to greet and cheer him on. Jayden also read his winning essay at the Fire Department Recognition Ceremony on Oct. 8. Well done, Jayden!
